SINOPSIS

The Philanthropists is a contest/reality TV which rewards entrepreneurship, skills and philanthropy.

The concept of the show is a unique blend of a contest, entrepreneurship and community outreach. Its main purpose is to entertain the viewer while at the same time raise awareness about important issues, celebrating Greek culture and Greek tourism.

4 young entrepreneurs looking for funds to develop their own project will engage in a series of tasks which will showcase their skills, empathy and teamwork while building a positive impact on society.

Each episode will be filmed in a different city in Greece. 10 in total. Between tasks the idea is to show briefly the main sites that weeks city has to offer, its history, traditions and local food as well as highlight the future business potential the city has to offer.

A panel of 3 judges will be invited each week to award a USD $2,000 prize money. This money is intended to be seed money for that entrepreneurs project. At the same time the program will match the prize money donating USD $2,000 to a vetted local charity. Every contestant will receive as well a prize money according to their result in the program.

The panel of judges will be made up of 3 public figures. One of them will be a producer of the show which will be the only judge to always be a judge in every episode, a local TV or celebrity like Tonis Sfinos for instance and a local social media influencer.

The idea behind this is that the local social media influencer and celebrity care about their city and want it to prosper, so they will also participate in promoting the show on their own social media and other traditional media outlets.

As a reward bonus the social media influencer will invite the winner of the show to post on the influencers social media profiles, intended to boost the entrepreneurs exposure to raise capital for their project.

Finally the last 5 minutes of the show will dive into what the programs USD $2,000 contribution has been spent on and the effect it had on the community.

There will be 10 episodes in a serie. Every episode will be filmed in a different city, the first being Athens because of importance and being the location of Foss Productions main studio outlets.

The structure of the series will be similar to other successful formats that already exists such as the British "Taskmaster" and the American "Shark tank" but will be more focused on a humanitarian side.

Each task has been carefully selected being based on viral videos online. These are videos that have millions of views online and it is guaranteed to be a success. At the same time a deep research on Greek TV and audience behavior revealed that this type of show mixing a contest with reality TV while promoting Greek culture and entrepreneurship is of great interest.

The limited total duration of the show will ensure balanced doses of plot twists, character development and range of emotions.

There will be a clear beginning, middle and end to each episode. The audience will have the opportunity to connect with contestants not only while watching but also once the show ends. The viewer will also have the chance to find more information online, participate, donate as well as volunteer with all three, contestants, charities and the program.

Every episode will focus on different humanitarian/charity projects from local soup kitchens, projects looking to help children, fight against racism, protect the environment, projects to increase local LGBTQ+ awareness, etc.

Η Αθήνα είναι διαφορετική!

Athens is a vibrant cosmopolitan city, filled with life and history. Athenians are equally engaged in helping others in need. Their continuous work make a positive impact in its peoples life and the surrounding areas of the city.

Here are some initiatives the program could potentially work with. To highlight their effort, give voice to their projects, find volunteers, donors and help spread the word:

1.      Refugee Assistance: In 2020, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) provided assistance to over 7,000 refugees and migrants in Greece, including in Athens. The organization offers a range of services, including shelter, healthcare, and education support, to help refugees and migrants rebuild their lives.

2.      Hunger Relief: The Athens Food Bank, a nonprofit organization in Athens, provides food assistance to people in need in the community. In 2020, the organization distributed over 1 million pounds of food to families in Athens and the surrounding areas.

3.      Healthcare: Doctors of the World, an international humanitarian organization, provides medical and mental health services to vulnerable populations in Greece, including in Athens. In 2020, the organization provided care to over 30,000 people in Greece, including refugees, migrants, and people experiencing homelessness.

4.      Youth Development: The Hellenic Youth Participation, a nonprofit organization in Athens, provides educational and recreational programs for young people in the community. In 2020, the organization served over 1,500 young people in Athens and the surrounding areas.

5.      Environmental Conservation: The Archelon Sea Turtle Protection Society, a nonprofit organization based in Athens, works to protect endangered sea turtles in Greece. In 2020, the organization conducted research and conservation activities that helped protect over 1,500 nests of sea turtles in Greece.

ENTERTAINING, INSPIRING, EDUCATIONAL…

Based on income and a person's ability to meet basic needs, according to the World Bank, about 9.2% of the world or 719 million people, live today in extreme poverty on less than $2.15 a day. In Europe, 11.6% of the population or 37.9 million people live still in poverty today.

Unfortunately Greece is no exception and much work still needs to be done.

However there are local heroes who manage to rise above the challenge and are able to give back to their community inspiring a new generation to fight against poverty. Among them are entrepreneurs, celebrities and social media influencers.

If we are able to harness this thrive and use entertainment to give voice to these issues, then it is clear the show will be success. People love stories and in particular love to see success stories.

The reasons behind making this show can then be summarized in three simple concepts:

1.- Its Entertaining! Multiple studies reveal that social consciousness is on the rise and there is a clear demand for TV shows that entertain but also have a positive impact in the lives of others. We are realizing more and more that human beings are interconnected and like to share and see experiences that affects some else's life experience.

2.- Its Inspiring! We follow real entrepreneurs who are passionate about a dream, who are sacrificing job security and who want to make a difference. We will see the contestants thinking process, how using their skills can help and more importantly how they will inspire others.

3.- Its Educational! It has been proven that helping communities create new business opportunities as people leave poverty and extreme poverty, the recipients of the help then become consumers and something changes in them that also want to give back to the society.

This is why The Philanthropists TV show would a huge commercial success as there is no similar program out there right now, there is a clear demand for this type of project and audiences are looking for this new type of entertainment.
